Dedalo Minosse International Prize for commissioning a building - 8th edition 2010/2011: subscriptions are open (January 2011) "...the courage, the ideal strain, the entrepreneurship, the culture of clients are and have always been the crucial completing to the ability of architects..." The subscriptions at Dedalo Minosse International Prize, promoted by ALA - Assoarchitetti, have been opened on October 11th, 2010 and will close on February 18th, 2011.
Dedalo Minosse is unique in the world and recognizes the Client's figure as fundamental and strategic in the constructive process. The recognition of a positive and stimulating role that creates, with architects' ability, the good architecture. Open to private and public clients from all over the world, the aim of the award is to select architecture works already finished, as good practice of the contemporary architecture research that confirms the quality given by a fruitful collaboration between the architect and the client.
In the past editions the Prize counts many national and international patron bodies as the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic the President of the Italian Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the AIA International Committee and the AIA San Francisco Chapter.
The eighth edition of Dedalo Minosse International Prize has been launched at Spazio Thetis-12th Biennale of Architecture in Venice, with a round table titled "Client and architect between internationalization and valorisation of territory". The Innovation Festival in Milan and the Batilux in Monaco had introduced the event too.
The Jury - composed by Gianni Arnaudo, architect, Italy; Mario Botta, architect of the client whose commission which won the 2007/2008 award, Switzerland; Paolo Caoduro, main sponsor of the Prize, Italy; Cesare M. Casati, editor-in-chief, l'ARCA, Italy; Bruno Gabbiani, president di ALA - Assoarchitetti, Italy; Richard Haslam, architectural historian, Great Britain; Richard Meier, architect of the client whose commission which won the 2007/2008 award, USA; Luca Molinari, curator of Italian Pavilion at the 12th International Biennale of Architecture, Italy; Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi, architecture critic, Italy; Peter Reichegger, client whose commission won the 2007/2008 award, Italia; Gianni Riotta, editor-in-chief, Il Sole 24 Ore, Italy; Piero Sartogo, architect, Italy; Roberto Tretti, president of the Study Centre for Self-Employed Professionals, Italy; spokesperson of the President of the Veneto Regional Government, Italy - will dedicate special attention to those works that have taken into account the following issues: social and economic sustainability; works inspired by Design for All; use of the natural light; sustainable use of the territory, of resources and energy; enhancement of the environment, landscape and architectural heritage; the valorisation of traditions and local languages.

The past edition 2007/2008, celebrated in the outstanding framework of the Palladian city Vicenza, involved about 500 participants, from more than 30 countries, representing all the 5 continents. The touring exhibition of the past edition is still around the world. The Dedalo Minosse 2007/2008 has been exhibited in Manila, Bruxelles, Vienna, Mosca, Berkeley, S Francisco, Hanoi, Kiev, Riga, Bolzano, Foggia, Salerno, Milano, Trieste, Oristano, Bologna, Torino. The enrolment at the eighth edition is free, any private or public client, its architects, buildings firms, the companies supplying the works and materials, or anyone else involved in the building processing is entitled to enter the competition. The registrations deadline is deferred to February 18th, 2011. The works must have been completed between the 1st of January 2006 and the 31st of December 2010.
